Today is Tortilla Chip Day, and what could be better than homemade tortilla chips with fresh, healthy dips? These chips are not only delicious, but also healthier because we use fresh ingredients and make the chips from vegetable wraps instead of traditional corn tortillas. Perfect for a tasty snack and a healthier option for drinks or parties!
Below you will find the recipe for the chips, plus two delicious dips: a creamy guacamole and a fresh tomato salsa.
Tortilla Chips Recipe
Ingredients
6 small vegetable wraps (e.g., beetroot, tomato, or carrot wraps)
1.5 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon sea salt
Handful of grated cheese (optional)
Preparation
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Stack the wraps on a cutting board. Use a large sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut the wraps into triangular chips, like a pie. Spread them evenly on the baking sheet. 3. Brush both sides of the chips thinly with olive oil. Sprinkle with the cumin, chili powder, and sea salt.
4. Bake the tortilla chips in the oven for 10 minutes, until golden brown and slightly crispy. Let them cool for 5 minutes to make them even crispier.
5. Optional: Place them on a nice ovenproof dish La Dolce Vita di una Farfalla Maxi, sprinkle with a little cheese, and place under the grill for a moment.
Guacamole
Ingredients
3 ripe avocados
1 lime (juice)
pinch of salt
2 cloves of garlic, pressed
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 shallot, finely chopped
1 handful of cherry tomatoes, roughly chopped
1 jalapeño (optional), finely chopped
Preparation
1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh. Place the avocado flesh in a large bowl La Dolce Vita di una Farfalla Fondi .
2. Add the lime juice, herbs, and garlic. Mash everything with a fork until it has a coarse texture.
3. Mix in the shallot, tomato, and jalapeño, if using. Taste and add a little extra salt or lime juice for more flavor, if desired.
4. Serve immediately or cover with plastic wrap.
Fresh Tomato Salsa

1 spring onion, finely chopped
