VToday is Popcorn Day—and we're certainly not letting that go unnoticed at Bordy's! Popcorn is the ultimate snack for socializing, but did you know it can also be surprisingly healthy? That's why we're sharing a favorite recipe today: spicy popcorn, a light snack with a delicious kick.
Why popcorn is a good choice
Popcorn is made from whole grain corn and is naturally packed with fiber. This means:
✔️ faster feeling of fullness
✔️ low in calories (if you make it yourself)
✔️ deliciously crunchy without the guilt
By making and seasoning your own popcorn, you avoid unnecessary sugars and fats often found in ready-made varieties. And with a little spice, you can make it a snack that's anything but boring!
Ingredients
200 g popcorn kernels (unpopped kernels)
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon curry madras or curry powder
1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Mix the olive oil with the spices. Heat the olive oil mixture in a large pan with a lid. Add the kernels and immediately cover the pan. Shake the pan occasionally to ensure even popping. Once the popcorn kernels stop popping, remove the pan from the heat. Add a little cayenne pepper and salt to taste, if desired.
